The Fashion Colorworks 2013 Beading Contest hosted by Zoya Gutina of My Lovely Beads boasted expanded techniques, unique colorways and creative artistic expressions!

It was a pleasure to once again be asked to jury the Fashion Colorworks. The creativity of the submitting artists was very impressive. There were many strong entries that made wonderful and interesting use of the required colors. It is always interesting to see how artists interpret a given requirement using basically the same materials. The inner person always tells his or her own story.

In most respects the finalists were not a surprise. They truly stood out among all many entries in their creativity, use of materials and the techniques they employed to make their works of art. Some made me shout aloud as I saw them for the first time they were so impressive. It quite an honor to become a winner and a finalist among so many entries and you are to be congratulated for being among them.

Shows and competitions such as this one are very important for artists. They are a very valuable tool in one's growth. They make you think, push harder, and help train you to excel. Your work will only get better if you keep applying to them.

Albina Polyanskaya:
Fashion Colorworks 2013 pleasantly surprised me with a lot of high level submissions. Some of the beadworks literally struck me by original design solutions. During the evaluation I have just been glad that counting results had to be carried out automatically. If I had to choose a specific finalists and the winning works, I would completely confused - this year's contest participants presented really strong and interesting designs.

And it is very pleasing, that the level of competition shows that the art of beading is constantly evolving thanks to the creativity of artists of different countries, and is still far from its apogee. I wish all the participants, regardless of their taken places, further reaching new creative heights!
