My name is Olesya Bryutova and I am from the city of Surgut, Tyumen region, Russia.
I don't even know what my life would look like if in 2011 I didn't discover beads abd beading. When I saw beadworks of famous artists in the Internet - and the boundless possibilities of this material - I realized what I wanted to do. And now the design and making bead jewelry is my main occupation. This is a business for the soul, and a means of self-expression, and my main source of income.
Beads give me the opportunity to translate my dreams and fantasies into reality, and in this sense, its importance for me cannot be overemphasized. I draw my inspiration from the art works of old masters - from the periods when manual work was the only way to create something really unique.
Fantastic working capacity and diligence of geniuses of the past, whose names are sometimes even unknown to us, but whose imagination and perseverance turned out to be stronger than time, inspire and motivate me. When I see a magnificent antique dress created from fabric which was made and completely embroidered by hand, and the laces were also woven by skilled craftsmen, I can hardly believe it sometimes.
And then I begin to understand that the possibilities of a man who has set a goal are truly limited only by his imagination and belief in himself. I count my becoming as a beaded master from my first success - the prize-winning place in the Fashion Colorworks contest. Until now, my Harlequin Necklace that was juried third in this competition in 2014, is one of my favorite and most iconic works.
He was "invited" in foreign tours to be taken photographs, custom replications of it were commissioned by beaded jewelry lovers, a photo of the necklace was placed on the cover of the magazine "Modnoe rukodelie" in 2017; and I am very grateful to the Fashion Colorworks for the birth of this work.
Since then, there have been other contests and other victories, including the first place in the Bead Dreams contest for the Swan Princess Kokoshnik-transformer and the Best-In-Show at the Bead&Button Show in Milwaukee, USA; but the first victory is always the most unforgettable and bright.
Fashion Colorworks for me to this day means an unusual creative tasks and the opportunity to implement bold, non-standard ideas, the acquisition of new beading skills. My set "Old England" and the necklace "After the rain" were my tribute to this bright event, to take part in which is always interesting and productive for creative development. And I'm sincerely grateful for the fact that one of these works was highly appreciated and took the prize-winning place.
