My name is Elena Korpacheva, I was born, grew up and live in Moscow. When I started writing about myself, my first thought was, "Where does this craving for creativity come from?" And I immediately remembered my mother. She sewed, knitted, embroidered, tatted, etc. Crafting for her was like a need to breathe. She did not imagine her life without creativity - even when watching TV, she always had needles in her hands. It's no wonder that her little daughter absorbed it all like a sponge.

I learned about beads in 2009 being already an adult woman. I passed weaving of baubles and small creatures and immediately plunged into the world of serious beadwork. I still keep my first necklace - it's a simple netting embroidered with pearls, but until now my debut work causes a rush of warm feelings ( photo ).

The first year of my new hobby flew by almost unnoticed, and then there was a break for two years, when I completely forgot about beads and the boxes with bags of beads, threads and needles just disappeared from my field of vision. I do not even remember what caused such a long break, as well as what served as my return to the wonderful magic world of beads. But this time small itty-bitty beads took me into their captivity forever.

When I create my work, I "draw" it in my head. Yes, yes! Strangely enough, but for me it's a big problem is to draw something. To make a sketch of a future work is definitely not for me. The biggest thing I'm capable of is to make an easiest sketch just to identify the key elements. That is all... This is the maximum... And already from here I slowly begin to "dance", "spinning in the dance." My favorite technique at the moment is beaded embroidery (necklaces "Glee at the beginning of summer", "The last days of the departing summer").

A very big problem for me was, is and still remains a sense of proportion in using the bead color palette. It's very difficult to stop. There is such a big variety of beads that the hands themselves are drawn to the new colors and I am always afraid to overload the work in color content. It was this problem that prompted my interest in the Fashion Colorworks contest and I began to observe the color triads of the contest. Three colors!!! "This is the limitation, the framework that I need," I told myself.

I have long wanted to make my "fish". When I found a shell on the seashore in the form of a fish head, and in a few feet also a skeleton of a fish, I immediately realized that the sea made me a present... Here it was, my FISH! And, having come home from vacation, I immediately started to work. There was no doubt left. "Fashion Colorworks 2016" - I would participate!!!

I called my necklace "My FISH". When she won the Best Use Of Preciosa Traditional Czech Beads prize, I was madly happy and especially pleased that I could keep within three colors, this was my main task and I was able to fulfill it.

Contests - people think about them in different ways. For me, they are like a breath of fresh air. They stimulate, give impetus to self-development. As a rule, I learn and try something new for myself when participating in competitions

That was my mood, when in October 2016 I started my work for the contest "Celestial Night" which was held in England. I placed twelve zodiac characters in my necklace to take us to a fairy tale. The magic of cosmic night brings us to a world where love, harmony and kindness reign. My necklace became the finalist of the contest and I was proud of my achievement.

Of course, in addition to bead embroidery I use beadweaving. With great interest in 2017 I took part in the Art of Weaving beading contest. The theme of the competition was "Asymmetry". I fulfilled the asymmetry conditions in the form of three earrings - two long and one short; combining them with each other allowed to change the image easily. The different colors of the earrings helped me to fulfill the terms of the competition for asymmetry in colors. And the result was - my work was juried to the finals in the Mini Beadwork category. I was happy about it like a child.

Fashion Colorworks in 2017 was my second opportunity to try my hand at it. Frankly, I was waiting for this contest; this time I decided to raise the bar for myself. In my work I used only small beads 15/0 and made a lot of woven elements, I have worked with great pleasure. In this necklace, I wanted to show the wonderful garden of amazing beauty that Alice saw in the keyhole of the magic door.

When I worked on it, I was listening to the song "Alice in Wonderland" performed by remarkable Russian singers and fell in love with this song so much that I just lost my peace. My necklace turned out small, elegant, just a toy. It really seemed to be in a magical land. I was very pleased to see my work among the winners in the Beaded Jewelry category. Thank you to the judges of the contest for such a high evaluation of my work!

In recent years, everything moves forward quickly in the world of beads. New techniques, new materials, new forms. I want to try everything. I watch with interest the works of other artists and how they apply the new in their items. In my last works I try to apply new materials more: in Esenia Necklace I used sequins and silk braid, in City Sails In The Sea Of Colored Lights set I tried to work with gimp.

I would express my attitude to my own work with the words, "I am happy to see my jewelry in public." There is nothing worse than working just to do something. Time flies and does not stand still, and you run, no, you do not even run, but you rush around, trying to catch the most important thing, the very essence. I think that the most interesting and exciting is yet to come. Timing - this is very relevant for me.

I'm not a professional beadworker. Beads for me, most likely, my second world. A world where I feel comfortable. Where there is harmony and beauty. Beads - this evening hours after the main work from 19.00 to 21.00. This is the time when I'm in my own small world. Many thanks to my family, who suffer from my imaginary absence in the period of my creative activity.

In conclusion, I want to say many thanks to the judges and sponsors of the Fashion Colorworks contest, and especially to Zoya Gutina - for her boundless patience to the participants. A new contest is coming - Fashion Colorworks 2018! For me, the question of whether to participate or not is not worth it. Of course - yes!!!
