My name is Elena Miklush, I am from Moscow, Russia. Five years have passed since my first participation in the Fashion Colorworks contest, and I can sum up. At least, intermediate results. I would definitely like to mention things that are unchanging and encouraging: a favorite contest is still live and attracts interest from participants and fans; every year it gives beautiful color combinations and new original beadworks! The contest forces all participants to grow - we have to always look for new forms and original designs.
If five years ago the art of micro-macrame was still a wonder, now it has many new admirers. The artists try different designs and techniques, nevertheless, in a broad sense, jewelry "made from threads" are rather an attribute of the popular Boho style. My goal was to go beyond this style, and the last five years I dedicated to creating beaded micro-macrame items that create a mood.
This can be, for example, unusual accessories. Suspenders - it turned out that you can create a complete image with them. In this case, I was inspired by the architecture of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an Austrian artist and architect.
His buildings are like part of nature, they do not have the same windows and doors, they have uneven floors and walls, trees on the roofs and balconies, and the colors are rich and simple. And here is the result - the suspenders turned out bright and memorable ( photo 1 ).
Another fashion accessory I recently created was the epaulette. I made a brooch for it in micro-macrame, but the epaulette itself was woven from the cord ( photo 2 ). I try to combine different techniques and materials in my work, this opens up new possibilities and allows me to expand the boundaries of creativity.
So once I decided to include feathers in my works. Hats are rapidly returning to their former positions in fashion. Well, what a hat without a feather! And even classic hat pins can be worn not only on the headdress, but also in hair ( photo 3 ).
Bracelets are an amazing pieces of jewelry emphasizing the grace of the female hand and a wide field for artistic creativity. So I tried to micro-macrame a bracelet resembling one made from precious metals and it turned out a thin, almost weightless ( photo 4 ). Ring-bracelets (slave bracelet) are jewelry items in which part of the image can be taken out beyond the traditional border of the bracelet - on the wrist and fingers. I liked this approach and really had to give it a try. Working on my ring-bracelets I saw an elephant walking through the desert or a lizard sneaking along a tile on a path in the garden ( photo 5 ).
I'm interested to tell a story, to convey my feelings through jewelry items. For example, in a necklace "At Dawn" there is an early necessarily sunny and warm morning, when dew is not dried up yet; a young chameleon inhales the aroma of a flower, closes its eyes with pleasure, and even the its color began to change ( photo 6 ).
Another necklace depicts sunset where the sun is huge and large elefants are the symbol of calmness ( photo 7 ). Flamenco Necklace - here not only the form, but also the transition of color from dark purple, almost black, to light pink, conveys the passion of dance ( photo 8 ).
A woman who puts on a a piece of jewelry does not just "covers the naked neck" or her arm, she carries her mood into the world and energizes it. She likes herself and necessarily likes others. It is very difficult to choose adornments suitable for your image - it remains to take this matter into your own hands: to make the right items that suits you not just in size or color, but in mood and attitude!
